The adaptor acts in the same way that washer would when using fixings that do not suit the holes in a particular given bracket. Where the Socket Button Adaptor excels compared to standard washers is that it is designed to sit inside the original brackets fixing hole, which prevents any slippage/movement when installing smaller diameter screws, without compromising the load bearing capability of the screw itself.
